The British Championships: My ‘Runnability’ Uncovered!

It was the term ‘Runnability’ that hooked me into the relationship with Gould and last weekend I was to discover if my preparation was going to allow me to compete again at the top level again.

I took part in the British Triathlon National Sprint Championships, which also served as a qualification event for the PruHealth World Triathlon Grand Final London in September.

The course we race over comprises a 750m swim, 20km cycle and then a 5km run. It's a very painful, intense hour!

I finished 2nd overall with a time of 1 hour 2 minutes and 32 seconds. As far as I am concerned, that was a job well done. At this stage there is plenty more to come so thats where I need to be right now.

I was so very nervous about this race! I knew the competition would be tough, and I was to be honest, terrified of coming 10th or something and just being handed a real blow to my dreams of going pro at long course again.

This fear of failure stuff can be quite overwhelming sometimes. Just got to ignore it. I far from failed: it was a very positive result and quite exciting considering I'm operating at about 70%.

I’ve now qualified for the PruHealth World Triathlon Grand Final London on the 11-15 September in Hyde Park and let's just say I have high hopes of a GB win... we have a strong team and I am right up there. Now I must stay injury-free!!
